Although 2009 has not been a smooth year for many... and despite the economy... it was amazing for me to see my friends and people around me who have been affected by the economy, how they haven't lose sight of their ability to keep dreaming, be inspired, and simply be grateful for what they do already have. It's from these people that my inspiration continues.

It's been awhile since I've posted new works so today I have 3 new images for you all. :) I hope you'll all enjoy. These photos were taken from my recent trip to Japan. It was a wonderful unforgettable experience and I look forward to showing you more new works from Japan so stay tuned! And thank you to those who visit my blog regularly and for all your thoughtful comments. It makes me happy. :D

Over 30 artists have been selected to share their gifts and their passion to help eradicate breast cancer. My "growing up together" piece has been selected as part of their exhibition which will run Sept. 28- Oct. 18 at "C Art Gallery" in Seattle. Proceeds from art sales will support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. To learn more about the event or to see the many other works by other artists that will be in the exhibit, please visit www.cartgallery.net. Again, I'm very honored to be selected to be part of this where I can do what i love and to help others all at same time. :)

Last night was pre-grand opening dinner party for the Obasan Restaurant, soon to be opened to the public sometime this week! The interior space was designed by Yukako Horiuchi and she asked me if I'd like to display some of my photography there so I said YES! :D I really like what Yukako did with the space, from paint color selection to the wall treatment around the counter area with the dark stained wood slats. The entire atmosphere feels very young and fresh but still sophisticated. With upbeat music in the background and the great food that Obasan chefs create, I see this as a great new happening space in lower queen anne. I've met the owners last night and they are young and so full of energy. I like seeing young people start new businesses... they just have so much passion and excitement in their eyes... you can almost feel it yourself and can't help but be excited for them too. So, if you're ever in Seattle and in Lower Queen Anne area, step into Obasan and eat some yummy food... :D Dont' forget to ask the owners to tell you the story of how they came up with their restaurant name... :)
Today's photo is one I took of guitar musician, Trace Bundy. I went to see him live for an event, a benefit for Agros International and World Relief . His affection for music and to help people can really be felt by everyone who was there... simply, pure rawness... pure genius. I didn't have the best camera to capture the best photo when I was there but I still hope you all enjoy this photo as much as I do. And a treat here *^_^* : Trace Bundy with Sungha Jung playing "Canon" on acoustic guitar.
